Appeal: Civilized protest is our way to defend Syrian Kurdistan

We address this appeal to our people and our compatriots participating in protests in a number of European countries to express their rejection of the attack on Syrian Kurdistan and the assaults it is facing.

The right to peaceful protest is guaranteed and is a legitimate means of making one’s voice heard and defending just causes, provided that it is exercised in a spirit of responsibility and in compliance with the laws in force in the host countries.

We emphasize that any attack on public or private property, acts of vandalism, or clashes with security forces does not serve our cause or reflect the reality of our demands. Rather, it harms our cause, distorts the image of our just struggle, and gives hostile parties excuses to discredit the movement and strip it of its political and humanitarian substance.

We therefore call on all protesters to be mindful and disciplined, to commit to the peaceful and civilized nature of the demonstrations, in line with our values and ethics, to preserve the dignity and justice of our cause, and to strengthen public sympathy for it, away from any unacceptable practices that are unrelated to the goals of the movement.
