Damascus closes crossings with SDF areas amid military movements east of Aleppo

Syrian authorities have suddenly closed the Deir Hafer crossing in eastern Aleppo and the Tabqa (Salamiya) crossing to commercial trucks and fuel transport to and from areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in a move that reflects escalating tensions between the two sides.

Field sources said that the closure coincided with the Syrian army and its allies pushing large military reinforcements, including armored vehicles and medium and heavy weapons, toward the front lines in the eastern countryside of Aleppo and eastern Raqqa, with the participation of factions loyal to Damascus and supported by Turkey, most notably the Sultan Suleiman Shah Division (Al-Amshat) and the Hamza Division (Al-Hamzat).

The decision led to a complete paralysis of commercial traffic between the two regions, amid uncertainty about its background and fears of a possible outbreak of military confrontations.
