Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij have secretly armed previously unarmed members in several areas including Maku, Chaldoran, Showt, Poldasht, and Bazargan, regions inhabited by Kurds and Turks.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arming of these members has been carried out covertly and during nighttime hours.
Hengaw sources emphasized that over the past two days, IRGC and Basij forces have pressured and threatened their own members in order to arm those who were previously unarmed.
The move comes amid growing international reports about potential military activity by Kurdistan political parties in Iran following the recent formation of a unified coalition.
