Kurdish National Council delegation meets with UN envoy to Syria

Yesterday, a delegation from the Kurdish National Council of Syria (KNC) met with the UN envoy to Syria in Damascus.

Ibrahim Biro, a member of the Council’s Foreign Relations Committee, said in a post on his Facebook account: On Saturday,  22nd February , a delegation from the Kurdish National Council, including Dr. Abdulhakim Bashar and Mr. Ibrahim Biro, met with the International Envoy to Syria, Mr. Geir Pedersen , and his team.

He added: During the meeting, they discussed the current situation in Syria, the KNC’s view on the transitional phase in Syria and the need for the UN to play a positive role in supporting the Syrians to overcome this phase.

He added: We also discussed the role of the Kurds and the importance of their participation in all institutions of the transitional period, in order to prepare a constitution that guarantees the rights and participation of all components of the Syrian people, national and religious, including the national rights of the Kurdish people in Syria.
