A delegation from the Damascus region of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) offered condolences to Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X Yazigi at the Holy Cross Church in the Qassa’a neighborhood of Damascus.

The delegation expressed condolences to the martyrs of the terrorist bombing at St. Elias Church in the Duwaila neighborhood, and expressed sorrow for the victims of the bombing.

St. Elias Church witnessed a terrorist bombing on Sunday that killed dozens of people and injured dozens of others. The attack was claimed by the ISIS terrorist organization.

The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council condemned the terrorist bombing in a statement in June 23, 2025, and stressed that the path to security and stability in Syria passes through guaranteeing the rights of all Syrians to freedom and dignity, and their full participation in drawing the future of the country and building its new state on the basis of national partnership.

The Council emphasized that combating terrorism and extremism requires genuine solidarity among all components of the Syrian people, a categorical rejection of all forms of violence and hatred, and a serious endeavor to build a democratic, pluralistic state based on equal citizenship, justice, and respect for human rights.
