In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

With regard to the position of President of the Republic of Iraq, all Kurdish parties should be convinced that this position belongs to the Kurds. In order for the President of the Republic to truly represent the people of Kurdistan, the mechanism for electing the President must be changed, and no party should consider this position to be its private property or exclusive right.

Therefore, the mechanism should be as follows: either a person should be designated by the Kurdistan Parliament as the representative of the Kurds to assume the position of President of the Republic, or all Kurdish parties should meet and agree on a person for this position, or the Kurdish deputies and blocs in the Iraqi Parliament should choose a person to assume the position. It is not a requirement that the person chosen for the position of President of the Republic be from the Kurdistan Democratic Party or the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan; they may be from another party or an independent figure. What is more important is that this person enjoys Kurdish consensus and represents the people of Kurdistan in assuming the presidency of the Republic of Iraq.
