in May 31, 2025, the Revolutionary Youth Organization kidnapped 16-year-old Jamil Kilo from the People’s Protection Units (YPG)-controlled areas of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Aleppo governorate, according to his family.
The family lives in Qirbet Qila in Jinderes district in the countryside of Afrin.
Jamil suffers from celiac disease (malabsorption), a chronic health condition that requires a strict diet. He is forbidden to eat bread and wheat derivatives, and his diet is limited to rice and corn flour only. Medical reports indicate that his critical health condition has made his physical structure closer to a 60-year-old person, while his weight does not exceed 30 kilograms.
Although the child’s parents visited several Revolutionary Youth headquarters in YPG-controlled neighborhoods to inquire about his fate, they were met with closed doors and silence, without any response from those in charge of these headquarters.
She noted that her son was kidnapped in Aleppo and enrolled in the Revolutionary Youth camps in al-Jazeera.
The commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, had signed, in 2019, with the United Nations representative for children and armed conflict, Virginia Gamba, a plan of commitment to end and prevent the recruitment of children under the age of 18 and their non-use in military actions.
