The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights quoted US envoy to Syria and Lebanon, Thomas Barak, as saying: The US State Department will not remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism until it sees what will happen next by the new Syrian authority in Damascus, led by interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa.

Shallal Ghado, secretary of the Kurdish Alwasat Party in Syria, told Yekiti Media that these statements express the view of the US government, as Thomas Barak is President Donald Trump’s envoy to Syria, and everything he says reflects the will of President Trump and the essence of US policy in Syria.

He said: “We know that most of the sanctions that will be lifted against Syria are conditional, and lifting them will not be free, including the Caesar Act, and the same applies to removing Syria’s name from the lists of state sponsors of terrorism.

He emphasized that Damascus must implement the US conditions, and if they are implemented, Washington will lift the sanctions and remove Syria from the lists of state sponsors of terrorism.

He noted that what happened recently in the city of Suwayda affected the US policy in this regard, and therefore Syria’s name was kept on the lists of state sponsors of terrorism.
