The Kurdish National Council in Syria held a meeting to discuss political developments in Syria and Kurdistan, and ways to deal with challenges in a manner that serves the aspirations of the Kurdish people within the framework of national partnership and the success of the transitional phase.
The Council appreciated the demonstrations of support and solidarity with Syrian Kurdistan, considering them a reflection of adherence to national rights. It also praised the invitation extended to its delegation to meet with Foreign Minister Asad al-Shaybani and Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, and the assurances given regarding the guarantee of the national rights of the Kurds in the Syrian constitution.
It stressed the importance of working together with the Syrian Interim Government and translating positive developments into practical steps, expressing its appreciation for the role of President Masoud Barzani and the support of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the Barzani Charity Foundation.
He stressed the need for continued coordination between Kurdish forces in accordance with the understandings reached at the April 26, 2025 conference, called on the Democratic Union Party to review its previous policies, and demanded that the Syrian government lift the siege on Kobani and provide humanitarian support to its people.
