Statement from the local council of the Kurdish National Council in Afrin

Another crime added to the series of crimes committed against unarmed Kurdish citizens on 6/18/2025 at night while the young man Mustafa Barzani Jamil Sheikho was guarding the power panels in his village (Hajj Hasanli) in Jindires district.

A group of armed thieves came to steal the energy panels, and after the youngmen chased them, they opened fire and Mustafa Jamil Sheikho was injured and martyred.

Once again, Afrin is bleeding , and once again a brutal crime is committed by unknown shooters.

This crime is not the first of its kind, as the Afrin region suffers from a series of thefts, violations, killings, looting and kidnappings targeting the indigenous population.

We in the Kurdish National Council call on the concerned and competent authorities to take immediate action to prosecute criminals, corrupt and outlaws and hold them accountable for their crimes.

We declare our support for the victim’s family and their rights, and call for immediate action to stop these crimes and hold those responsible accountable.

We also demand that the remnants of the factions be removed from Afrin and demand that all displaced families be removed from Kurdish homes and houses and sent to their areas, especially since all roads are open and the dictator Bashar al-Assad’s regime has fallen, and their presence is no longer justified or meaningful.
