Statement on the horrific massacre of civilians in the countryside of Kobani…

Yekiti Media

The Kurdish National Council in Syria condemns in the strongest terms the horrific crime that targeted the family of Rshu Bozan Kadaro and Mustafa Othman Kjo, comrades and supporters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria, in the village of Kharab Ashk on the night of January 26, 2026, in the countryside of Kobani on the M4 highway.

This attack took place following the announcement of a ceasefire and resulted in the martyrdom of ten civilians from a single Kurdish family, most of them women and children, in a flagrant violation of all human values and international laws and norms.

This criminal targeting constitutes a flagrant violation of the ceasefire and confirms the continuation of the policy of targeting innocent civilians, threatening efforts to calm the situation and any serious attempts to bring stability and security to the region.

In this context, the Council calls on the United States of America and the international coalition to shoulder their moral and political responsibilities, work hard to stabilize the ceasefire, take effective measures to protect civilians, and put an end to such crimes, which are repeated with impunity.

It also calls for a transparent investigation to uncover the circumstances of this attack, identify those responsible, hold the perpetrators accountable, and restore some justice to the victims of this massacre.

The Council also affirms that the protection of civilians must be a fundamental priority and that the blood of innocent people should not be the price of any conflict or political understanding.

Mercy for the righteous martyrs,
speedy recovery for the wounded,
and patience and solace for the families of the martyrs.
