Statement on the torture and murder of young Alaa Amin
Yekiti Media
The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council condemns in the strongest terms the horrific crime that took the life of young Alaa Amin inside the prisons of the security services affiliated with the PYD administration.
after his arrest upon arrival from Sweden and his disappearance for five months, before his body was handed over to his family on March 8, in a manner contrary to the values of our Kurdish society and all humanitarian laws, accompanied by medical reports to cover up what he was subjected to in detention.
This crime, which adds to other crimes that have occurred, raises legitimate concerns among our people about the situation of the remaining detainees and those who have been forcibly disappeared.
Therefore, the General Secretariat of the Council calls for a transparent and independent investigation, supervised by credible human rights organizations, to uncover all the circumstances surrounding this crime, determine responsibilities with precision, bring all those proven to be involved to justice, and impose the maximum legal penalties on them, thereby ensuring justice for the victim and deterring anyone who might be tempted to commit such crimes.
We also stress the need to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents and to completely clean up prisons and detention centers in order to preserve the security of society and protect its fabric.
