
The Presidency of the Kurdish National Council holds an extensive meeting with the European representation and its local councils

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, the Presidency of the Kurdish National Council in Syria held an expanded online meeting with the European representation of the Kurdish National Council and local councils in Germany, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
Participating in the meeting on behalf of the Presidential Council was Mr. Faisal Youssef, a member of the Presidential Council and a member of the joint Kurdish delegation negotiating with the Damascus government. Mr. Abdul Karim Haji, head of the European representation of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, opened the meeting with a welcome speech to the representative of the Council and all participants, emphasizing the importance of continued communication between the Presidential Council and local councils abroad to strengthen joint action and unify positions.
The head of the representation then gave the floor to Mr. Faisal Yusuf, who gave a detailed presentation on political developments in Syria and Kurdistan, including a number of prominent issues, among them:
• The formation of a joint Kurdish delegation from the Qamishlo Conference to engage in dialogue with the Syrian interim authorities.
• Calling on the Syrian interim authorities in Damascus to engage in serious and responsible dialogue with the joint Kurdish delegation.
The Kurdish National Council’s position on the bloody events in the Syrian coast and identity-based killings,
as well as the painful events in Suwayda and the emphasis on adhering to a political solution in accordance with the outcomes of the Qamishlo Conference.
At the end of the meeting, the floor was opened for discussion, and attendees were given the opportunity to engage in dialogue, answer questions, and exchange views.
This reflects the keenness to strengthen communication and coordinate efforts between the inside and outside, as they contributed to the success of the meeting and presented many observations and questions related to the complex Syrian situation and the resolution of the Kurdish issue in accordance with international covenants within the framework of a new Syria, as a pluralistic, democratic, decentralized state whose constitution guarantees the rights of all its components.
