The Progressive Democratic Party returns to the ranks of the Kurdish National Council

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the Kurdish National Council approved the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party’s return to the Council.

The approval came after a request for reinstatement submitted by the Progressive Democratic Party.

The Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party is led by Dr. Salah Darwish.

The Progressive Democratic Party was one of the parties that founded the Kurdish National Council in 2011, but withdrew from the council in 2015.

The Kurdish National Council is a political entity that includes a number of political parties and youth and women’s organizations.
