The Revolutionary Youth Organization of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) kidnapped a minor child from the city of Afrin in order to recruit him into the ranks of the PKK.
The activist Mustafa Sheikho told Yekiti Media that the Revolutionary Youth kidnapped the 13-year-old child Jandi Muhammad Korji on 2nd, December 2024, while his family was fleeing from Babans towards Tabqa, and took him to the party’s child recruitment and militarization camps, which are spread in several areas of Syrian Kurdistan.
The child Jandy hails from the village of Maidan Akbas in Rajo district in Afrin city, and was displaced to Babnas after the Turkish army invaded Afrin in 2018, and then displaced to Tabqa after the Syrian army took control of the Aleppo countryside
In 2019, SDF commander Mazloum Abdi signed a commitment plan with the UN Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, to end and prevent the recruitment and use of children under the age of 18 in military operations.
According to observers, the Revolutionary Youth organization aims to brainwash children with the ideologies of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in order to recruit them into the PKK’s military ranks.
