Statement by the Kurdish National Council regarding the Turkish bombing of Syrian Kurdistan

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Kurdish National Council in Syria issued a statement regarding the Turkish bombing of multiple areas in Syrian Kurdistan, and a copy of the statement reached the Yekiti Media website.
The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in its statement condemned the Turkish bombing of service facilities, electricity, gas, water stations, infrastructure, and others, which resulted in human casualties among workers in these facilities and others, stressing its categorical rejection of Syrian Kurdistan being an arena for settling scores between Turkey and the PKK.
And said that the Turkish bombing led to the cessation of the work of hospitals and created a fuel crisis, which will double the suffering of people in these difficult circumstances, create more anxiety and instability, and push the people of the region to more of immigration as a result.
The statement added, that these attacks come after the suicide attack in the Turkish capital, Ankara, which was claimed by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, and Turkish officials threatened to respond to it as a terrorist act.
It expressed its permanent rejection of violence and all terrorist acts that further complicate the situation and bring more tragedies to civilians.
It also condemned the targeting of civilians, their interests, and service and economic infrastructure, and called on Turkey to stop these operations and spare the region from further disasters.
It reaffirmed its categorical rejection “that the regions of Syrian Kurdistan should be an arena for settling internal scores between the PKK and Turkey, calling on the PKK to respect the privacy of the Kurdish people in Syria, not to interfere in their affairs, and to distance the Kurdish regions from threats and fueling conflicts.”
It called on the international community to work to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Resolution 2254 and other relevant resolutions.
