The Revolutionary Youth Organization of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) kidnapped a minor child from the city of Hasakah in order to recruit him into the ranks of the PKK.
On 2nd, March 2024, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the Revolutionary Youth Organization kidnapped the 11-year-old child Yazan Khamis al-Juma from al-Nashwa al-Gharbia neighborhood in Hasaka city and took him to child recruitment camps.
Yazan’s family, despite their efforts to check the centers affiliated with the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), have not yet been able to obtain any information about the fate of their son, and their attempts to search for him have failed.
In 2019, SDF commander Mazloum Abdi signed a commitment plan with the UN Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, to end and prevent the recruitment and use of children under the age of 18 in military operations.
According to observers, the Revolutionary Youth organization aims to brainwash children with the ideologies of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in order to recruit them into the PKK’s military ranks.
