Statement on the 11th Anniversary of the Abduction of Civil Activist Amir Hamed
Yekiti Media
On Saturday, marked the 11th anniversary of the abduction of civil activist Amir Hamed by the PYD Asayish forces. His fate remains unknown from the moment of his abduction to the date of this statement.
At a time when the Kurdish people in Syria need unity to confront existential challenges and serve their cause in the future of Syria, the fate of Amir Hamed, along with numerous other Kurdish politicians and activists, remains unclear.
Despite repeated appeals from international and local human rights organizations, the Kurdish National Council, and us—the families of the abducted—no progress has been made in releasing them or uncovering information about their fate.
On the 11th anniversary of Amir Hamed’s abduction, we reiterate our urgent call for the immediate release of all Kurdish abductees held by the Syrian Democratic Forces.
We also renew our appeal to the international coalition, the United States, France, and other influential actors in the Syrian file, as well as human rights organizations, to exert pressure on the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces to disclose the fate of the abducted, ensure their release, and hold those responsible for illegal abductions accountable.
