President of Kurdistan: I gave advice to Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara

The President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, said on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, that he gave advice to Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara.

The President of Kurdistan explained that he advised the interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa that centralization does not work in a country like Syria, which includes diverse ethnic and religious groups such as the Kurds, Druze, and Alawites.

Barzani’s statements came during his participation in the Middle East Forum 2025 (MIRI) in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan.
