Statement by the Kurdish National Council regarding the terrorist bombing at Mar Elias Church in Damascus
Yekiti Media
The Kurdish National Council in Syria condemns in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist crime committed by ISIS, which targeted on Sunday morning, June 22, 2025, the Mar Elias Church in the Duwaila neighborhood of Damascus, resulting in a number of innocent civilian victims and a number of wounded.
Especially after Syrians rejoiced in the fall of tyranny and look forward to broader horizons of freedom, peace and stability.
Targeting places of worship, violating the sanctity of holy places, and killing peaceful civilians is a blatant assault on human and religious values, and a malicious attempt to sow discord and destabilize civil peace among the Syrian people.
The Kurdish National Council in Syria extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the people of the Duwaila neighborhood, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
The KNC emphasizes that the fight against terrorism and extremism requires genuine solidarity among all components of the Syrian people, a categorical rejection of all forms of violence and hatred, and a serious endeavor to build a democratic, pluralistic state based on equal citizenship, justice, and respect for human rights.
The Council emphasizes that the path to security and stability in Syria passes through guaranteeing the rights of all Syrians to freedom and dignity, and their full participation in drawing the future of the country and building its new state on the basis of national partnership.
May God have mercy on the innocent victims and a speedy recovery for the wounded.
