The advisor to the security council of Kurdistan region Masrour Barzani received today on Wednesday the American minister of foreign affairs Mike Pompeo in Hawler the capital.
Barzani wrote after the meeting on his account in tweeter website, he said: Chancellor Masrour Barzani received today U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Erbil. The two discussed a range of issues of bilateral importance, including developments in Iraq, Syria and the region. They also discussed the next stage of the longstanding Kurdistan Region-United States relationship. Chancellor Barzani proposed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with emphasis on economic and security reform and that is in line with U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement. They also reviewed progress in talks between Erbil-Baghdad. In the meeting, Chancellor Barzani welcomed Secretary Pompeo’s commitment to the success the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and both expressed continued support for the anti-ISIL campaign. He said mechanisms outlined in the Constitution can solve disputes, including the budget.
