National Council: Uncovering the truth about the circumstances of the “treacherous night” massacre in Kobane is a right of the victims’ families

Yekiti Media

At dawn in June 25, 2015, the city of Kobane was subjected to a horrific massacre committed by terrorist groups, which resulted in the martyrdom of hundreds of innocent civilians in a scene whose memory is still etched in the minds of all those who seek dignity and justice.

This heinous crime, which came a few months after the defeat of ISIS, constituted a serious humanitarian and security setback and, according to international standards, is considered a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Ten years later, many of the circumstances remain unclear, reinforcing the need for an impartial and transparent investigation that reveals the truth and brings justice to the victims and their families.

We in the Kurdish National Council in Syria (Kobane Local) condemn in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed in the city of Kobane on the night of treachery, which took innocent lives in circumstances that lack the minimum standards of law and justice.

While expressing our full solidarity with the families of the victims and the people of Kobane in this painful loss, we emphasize that what happened constitutes a blatant violation of the right to life and a crime against humanity that cannot be tolerated.

We also emphasize that achieving justice and uncovering the truth is the right of the victims’ families and the moral and legal duty of all those who claim to represent or protect the people.

Mercy for the martyrs of the “treacherous night” and all the martyrs of freedom.

Shame and disgrace to the murderers and those who planned this crime.
